The kachnar is the orchid tree of north India — broad, two-lobed leaves and a spring flush of blossom. Kachnar House takes its name, and its mood, from it: a quiet, green address in Vikas Nagar where the city slows down at the gate.

Inside, the rooms are warm wood and clean linen, air-conditioned, with Wi-Fi throughout and housekeeping every day. Whether you're in Lucknow for work, a wedding, or a long weekend of kebabs and old monuments, it's an easy place to come back to.

Cafe Andheri West.

Our in-house cafe borrows its look from a Mumbai local station — a platform sign over the door, a red telephone box in the porch, and walls hung with black-and-white film stills. It calls itself the station for great food and conversation, and it earns it.

Eat in, order to the room, or sit out under the lights in the courtyard. It's also where the house hosts small meetings and get-togethers.
