Kachnar House isn't a resort and doesn't pretend to be. What it has is here because guests in Lucknow actually use it — listed below, without rounding up.

The station for good food.

The in-house cafe is dressed like a Mumbai local platform: a station board over the door, a red telephone box in the porch, and walls of framed dishes and black-and-white cinema. Pendant bulbs, white tables, and a kitchen that cooks to order.

Eat downstairs, order to the room, or take a table outside under the lights. The kitchen is the reason outside food isn't allowed — you won't need it.

02 — The Courtyard

The first thing you see is green: palms, ferns and potted plants crowding the entrance, a tree wound with fairy lights, and a round lit sign that says, simply, have a good stay.

By evening it's the nicest place on the property to sit with a chai before heading into the city.

03 — Meetings & Functions

Room for the whole party.

There's a banquet hall for functions, and the cafe hosts meetings, conferences, get-togethers and kitty parties. Book a block of rooms for out-of-town guests and everyone stays under one roof.

For a function rather than a stay, call reception first so the dates and the kitchen line up.

04 — Round the Clock

Someone's always up.

A front desk staffed 24×7 and a security guard on duty — which matters more than it sounds when your train pulls into Charbagh at four in the morning. There's CCTV across the property, fire extinguishers throughout, and first aid at the desk.

Early check-in and late check-out can be arranged on request, subject to the room being free.

05 — Everyday Comforts

The small things, done daily.

Air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout, housekeeping every day, and a laundry service for the longer trips. There's a refrigerator and a kitchen on the property, and room service when you'd rather stay in.

Couples are welcome with valid photo ID. Rooms are non-smoking, with smoking rooms and a designated smoking area for those who need them.

House Rules

The short version.

Nothing here should surprise you at the desk. The full policy is shown again on the booking page before you pay.

  • Check-in is 12:00 PM, check-out is 11:00 AM. Valid photo ID is required for every guest.
  • Full refund on cancellations made more than 72 hours before check-in. Within 72 hours, one night is charged; no-shows are charged in full.
  • Children five and under stay free using existing bedding.
  • Outside food is not allowed — the kitchen and cafe are open to you.
  • Smoking in non-smoking rooms attracts a cleaning charge. Ask for a smoking room instead.
  • Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  • UPI, credit and debit cards, and cash are accepted.

Cancellations must be made in writing, by email or phone. For anything not covered here, write to us and we'll confirm in writing.
